Boys Lock-in FAQ

  • My son cannot stay overnight at the church. Is he still able to come?
    • Absolutely! Students that are unable to stay overnight are welcome to come for the evening activities and then be picked up. Just make note of that in your sign-up and be clear about who is authorized to pick them up and when because the church will be locked after all students arrive for safety reasons.
  • Can my student bring their smartphone?
    • If parents feel comfortable, we are asking students to come without their smartphones, iPads, tablets and electronic devices. We are here to love and serve your students and we want to remove anything that could be an obstacle. Leaders will have their phones with them in case of emergency. If parents do not feel comfortable sending their students without their smartphones, they can bring them however we would ask that use them appropriately, primarily for contacting their parents.
  • If my student isn’t feeling well can they call me?
    • When students arrive, one of the first guidelines they are given is that they should go directly to an adult chaperone if they are feeling anxious, scared or sick. The adult will then contact the student’s parents and determine the best plan of action going forward so that the student is safe. Students should understand that they cannot go anywhere there is not an adult chaperone present.
  • What exactly happens at a boy's lock-in?
    • Boy's lock-ins are memorable nights filled with fun activities, challenging messages and moments of worship. Students remember what happens at lock-ins even years after they’ve graduated. By attending the lock-in, students understand that they will be participating in group activities throughout the whole night. Isolation is not part of lock-in activities, however if students are feeling anxious or overwhelmed they should talk to an adult immediately.
  • Do you stay up all night?
    • Students have the privilege of staying up together as long as there is an adult chaperone who is willing to stay awake with them and their conversations are kind, helpful and appropriate. When this is not the case, we throw in the towel and send everyone to bed. If your student is not allowed to stay up all night, please note that in your sign up.
  • Does the lock-in cost money?
    • As a ministry, it is our heart to make events as affordable as possible and even provide them at no cost when we can. Attending the lock-in does not cost money. If you want to donate money in order to assist us in providing an even better experience for students we would appreciate that. Please note, donations put in the offering box must be marked “Youth Group” in order to be allotted for Youth. If you are giving a donation that requires a receipt for tax deductions please contact Kayla at youth@christianhill.com.
  • How can I help?
    • There are several ways that parents can help. One of the biggest ways is to join us in prayer for a night that impacts the students and bonds them closer together. Our goal is always a mix of both fun and serious activities that are aimed at the heart. In addition to prayer, signing up to help clean up alleviates a lot of burden from leaders who have already gone through the trenches of an all-nighter. These are our two biggest needs.
  • Can my student bring their medication?
    • Students must have parental permission in order to receive medication. If your student has medication they must take while at the church please note it in your sign-up. Please also note in your sign-up if your son has any allergies or medical conditions we should be aware of.
